In the space of a few years, Drax Project has grown from being a music students' busking project into the hottest band in Wellington. Building on the city's tradition of killer live acts, Drax Project have honed their craft as much on stage asin the studio.
Beyond releasing the well received EP T/W/OO on Universal, playing festivals such as RnV, Homegrown, RnA, Soundsplash and Bay Dreams, plus opening for acts like Gorillaz Soundsystem, SBTRKT, Six60 and Brian McKnight, the band have had a two year run of sold out hometown towns. The word is spreading though, with 2017 also seeing sold out shows in Auckland, Christchurch and Dunedin.
All of this leads to major excitement amongst fans that recording of their long anticipated debut studio album is well underway. The album sees them reunited with T/W/OO producer Devin Abrams (Pacific Heights, Shapeshifter) and features song writing collaborations with Matiu Walters and Marlon Gerbes of Six60.With videos being directed by Lee Gingold (Gorillaz, The Beatles), it's fair to say that a veritable A Team of talent have come together to help push Drax Project's album to the next level. 2018 looks set tobe the year of the Drax
